Bikes Belong Elects New Officers

DECEMBER 16, 2005 -- BOULDER, CO (BRAIN)—Three industry leaders were elected as new Bikes Belong Coalition officers at the organization's Nov. 29 board meeting in Chicago. Kozo Shimano, president of Shimano American Corporation, was picked to become president. Steve Meineke, president of Raleigh America, was selected as vice president. Chris Fortune, chief executive officer of Saris Cycling Group, was elected treasurer. All three begin service immediately and will continue until the end of 2007.

The new trio replaces outgoing president Bill Fry of Bell Riddell Sports, vice president Lisa Robinson Falvy of Sportworks, and treasurer Chris Kegel of Wheel & Sprocket. The outgoing group of officers led Bikes Belong through a period of significant growth and new accomplishments.

During 2005, Bikes Belong played a key role in securing $4.5 billion for bicycle and pedestrian facilities and programs in the new federal transportation law. The organization also awarded close to $450,000 to national, regional, and local bicycling projects.

Raleigh Wins BRaINy Award at BLC Meetings

FEBRUARY 03, 2006 -- TEMPE, AZ -- Here at the recent Bicycle Leadership Conference, the BRaINy Awards were presented by the Bicycle Retailer and Industry News publication.

Raleigh America was chosen as the Best Mid-Sized Supplier for the outstanding level of support provided to their independent bicycle dealers.
