Plain Dealer: Don't let summer pass you by

Century Cycles bicycle rental service in Peninsula was mentioned in D'Arcy Egan's Great Outdoors column in the July 31, 2010 edition of Plain Dealer. The article listed some family activities to be found in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park.

"As youngsters, we roamed the Cuyahoga River valley, exploring what is now the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. More than a half-century later, the sprawling park between Cleveland and Akron offers some of the best hiking and biking in the region. There are 125 miles of hiking trails, and many more miles in the nearby Cleveland Metroparks. The hiking and biking trails can be challenging, or fairly flat for family fun.

Picking a trail is almost too easy. There are a few excellent guides available at the National Park, and lots of information at the park's website at nps.gov. Want to pedal your way through the park? If you don't have a bicycle, Century Cycles has rentals in Peninsula, and plays host to popular night rides.

Bicyclists will enjoy the Valley Loop, which takes you from Peninsula to the outskirts of Akron and back. The night rides are along the scenic Towpath Trail that follows the historic Ohio & Erie Canal route. A section of the Buckey Trail meanders through the park."
