Free bicycling clinics at Century Cycles this winter
ROCKY RIVER, Ohio – Winter may not offer the best bicycling weather in Northeast Ohio, but it’s a good time to take a bike clinic or class in preparation for warm days to come.
Century Cycles bicycle stores in Rocky River, Medina and Peninsula are hosting a series of free clinics, almost all offered at 6:30 p.m. simultaneously at the bike stores. Topics and dates include:
- Bike Touring 101: February 5
- Cleaning and Lubricating Bicycle Chains: February 7
- Tandems 101: February 12 (MEDINA ONLY)
- Basic Bike Maintenance: Saturday, February 16, at 1:30 p.m.
- Roadside Repair: February 19
- Shifting Adjustment: February 21
- Bike Commuting 101: February 26
- Preparing For the MS 150 and Other Event Rides: February 28
- Riding In Traffic: March 5
- Basic Bike Maintenance: March 7

All clinics are about 45-60 minutes long and are offered simultaneously at all three Century Cycles stores unless otherwise noted. They are free and no RSVP or bike necessary. Attendees receive a 15% discount on all bicycle accessories and parts purchased immediately after each clinic.
The most popular clinic Century Cycles offers is the Basic Bike Maintenance Clinic on Saturday, February 16, and again on Thursday, March 7. During the free one-hour clinic, a professional bicycle mechanic will teach attendees essential bike maintenance skills, including:
- How to change a flat tire;
- How to clean and lubricate a bicycle chain;
- How to do a five-minute pre-ride safety check; and
- What to take on every bike ride.
