Celebrate bicycling in your bedtime finest:
Century Cycles Pajama Party Night Ride on May 15

Peninsula, Ohio (May 6, 2010) -- Northeast Ohio bicycle store Century Cycles is putting the old-fashioned slumber party on two wheels when it transforms its regularly-scheduled Night Ride on the Towpath Trail on Saturday, May 15, into a Pajama Party Night Ride, a nocturnal bicycle ride in celebration of Cleveland Bicycle Week and National Bike Month.

The free event festivities begin at 7 p.m. with cycle-your-own-smoothies and glow-in-the-dark goodies in the parking lot of the Century Cycles store in Peninsula. Pajama-clad bicyclists will depart on the Night Ride from the parking lot at 8 p.m. At the 12-mile bicycle ride's halfway point, there will be slumber party snacks (popcorn, cookies and Twizzlers), plus a few games of "Spin the Water Bottle for Cycling Truth or Dare." After the ride, bicyclists are welcome to gather in the Peninsula Winking Lizard party room to trade bicycling (and ghost) stories and watch horror movies.

While the Night Ride is free as always and requires no advanced registration, the Pajama Party Night Ride will be collecting donations for the Cuyahoga Valley National Park Association's TRAILS FOREVER Fund. Pajamas are not required, but are highly encouraged, and be sure those pajamas don't hang or drag - nothing that could get caught in a bicycle's spokes or chain.

Century Cycles Night Rides on the Towpath Trail are free, casual, ride-at-your-own pace bicycle rides (not races) about 12-15 miles long that begin and end in the parking lot at Century Cycles' Peninsula store (1621 Main Street, on Route 303 between Route 8 and I-271, next to the Winking Lizard restaurant). Parking is available at the Lock 29 Trailhead, just north of the store. Participants must have their own bicycle, helmet and headlight to join the ride and must sign a waiver. Children 15 years old and younger must be accompanied by an adult. They are free and no registration is required.

For more information, call Century Cycles in Peninsula at 330-657-2209. Online, please visit www.centurycycles.com/goto/nightrides or e-mail info@centurycycles.com.

Now in their 15th year, Century Cycles Night Rides were in the national spotlight last year when Bicycling Magazine, the world's #1 bicycling publication, dubbed them a "great" ride. The remaining 2010 Century Cycles Night Rides on the Towpath Trail schedule is: Friday, June 4; Saturday, June 26; Friday, July 9; Saturday, July 24; Saturday, August 7 (Niterider Demo Light Night Ride); Friday, August 27; Saturday, September 18; and Friday, October 8.

Century Cycles Pajama Party Night Ride is in celebration of National Bike Month in May and Cleveland Bicycle Week on May 15 - 23. It's one of several events Century Cycles is holding at its stores in Medina, Peninsula and Rocky River to help more people "go by bike" and have fun on two wheels. Other events include a Ride of Silence in Peninsula on May 19, the sponsorship of the third annual Bay Bike to School Challenge, and a Super Seven Sale on the staff's favorite bicycle commuter accessories.
